Nintendo Stock Down Among Earthquake, 3DS Woes

by nintendoiso on April 9, 2011

Due to a national disaster and concerns over sales of the 3DS, Nintendo has seen a 15 percent drop in its stock price since the handheld system’s February 26 release.

According to andriasang, the 3DS has been impeded in its sales numbers due to the amount of games that have been delayed, mostly due to the March 11 earthquake that rocked the northern portion of Japan. A report from investment bank Barclays Capital cited in the article states that entertainment spending for the island nation is down across the board since the earthquake struck last month.

The delay of some 3DS titles could partially be to blame for the handheld’s lower than expected sales, which was eclipsed in Japan this week by the Sony PSP.
