Nintendo have announced that the Wii U Virtual Console will launch after the Wii U system update this Spring.
Although the full Wii Virtual Console library won’t be available on the Wii U at launch, there will be some NES, SNES games with GBA games coming at a later date.
The Wii U Virtual Console will also come allowing players to play the titles on the GamePad alone and will also support Miiverse communities. Those who have bought the Virtual Console titles in the past on the Wii will also be able to get the Wii U version at a lower, discounted price.
A trial will begin this month and will run up until the service is fully launched. Also, until July and leading to the 30th anniversary of Famicom, certain Wii U Virtual Console title will be available at 30 pence for 30 days. These include the following:
- January: Balloon Fight
- February: F-Zero
- March: Punch Out! Featuring Mr. Dream
- April: Kirby’s Adventure
- May: Super Metroid
